Everyone has a different figure and knowing how to dress to suit your shape can be stressful and time-consuming. First of all, you need to know what kind of shape you have. It can seem difficult to identify which one you are and until you know for certain, you won't know which clothes are going to suit you, sometimes without you even needing to try them on!

So, here they are. The apple shape, the pear shape, the athletic shape and the hourglass shape. You might already know which one you are off the top of your head, but if you don't, carry on reading to discover more.

You have slender shoulders, an ample bosom, a tiny waist sloping into curvy hips and finally smoothing into shapely thighs. You're the shape every woman would ideally like to be - the hourglass. When it comes down to it, all you really have to focus on is accentuating that teeny little waist. Proportion is the key to achieving the perfect silhouette.

Believe it or not, having the apple-shape is not unlucky! You ladies have beautiful, slender legs which ensure you can wear almost any length of dress or skirt providing you don't go too crazy one way or the other. What you want to do is draw attention to your midsection, which means emphasising your waist with a belt or waist-curving shirts. Dresses that wrap at the centre of your body will help emphasise your bust and waist, too, giving you a much more hourglass-like shape!

With your tiny little waist and voluptuous hips, pear shapes can wear almost anything. To maintain balance in your silhouette, make sure you draw some attention away from your hips by using shirts with decorate busts and empire lines to emphasise your bosom and make your waist a little more obvious at the same time! Most dark jeans that don't flare bigger than your hips will help to give you a more desirable shape!

Last, but definitely not least, is the athletic shape. On top of having thin, shapely legs, you have perfectly in proportion shoulders and hips, meaning you can get away with wearing almost any fitted clothing so long as you remember to add the illusion of a waist using a belt or wear a wrap-over dress or shirt. Defining your waist is the key to almost any shape. Skirts that are A-line will skim right over your hips, and wide-leg trousers just beneath or on your waist will help to make you look that bit more curvaceous.
